Sustainability
Due to the environmental degradation of our natural ecosystems, the protection of native flora and fauna is becoming ever more important.
The Tree Company works with 8 local councils, along with public and private companies to plant, irrigate and preserve trees. We are experienced in assessing and preserving veteran trees via Arboricultural practices such as cable and rod bracing, dynamic bracing, fabricating and installing support props, weight reduction pruning, whole tree suppression and habitat pruning.
We recycle by-products of our tree works (such as felled trees and branches), with suitable timber transported to mills for use in construction, or via local businesses for use in furniture or guitar making. With the help of ‘Carbonneutral’, The Tree Company is aiming to become an independently endorsed carbon neutral business. Our emissions are currently being assessed and forecasted. Watch this space!
Our Commitment to the Environment
As part of its commitment to the environment and local community, The Tree Company supports three environmental charities and two local not-for-profit organisations.
The following organisations are currently being supported via monthly or annual donations
Habitat Creation and Nest Boxes
Habitat hollows and nest boxes attract and retain native wildlife in our urban areas, with around 300 species in Australia depending on cavities for their home, shelter or seasonal nesting. Australian animals that use habitat hollows include owls, lorikeets, lizards, bats, bees and possums. Artificial hollows have a variety of applications and can be targeted at a specific species by taking into account the animal’s habitat requirements, including height above ground level, orientation, hollow dimensions and entrance hole size and more.
We are excited to partner with Thermal Haven Nest Boxes, offering supply and installation of these eco-friendly, durable nesting boxes.
Designed to withstand the elements, they have an estimated lifespan of around 50 years outdoors.
